Early morning air, a quiet house with the smell of coffee brewing, when suddenly the blare of trumpets, drums, and cheers erupts. THE fight song is echoing through the house. It’s the kick off to college football. The season is here, the long wait is over. Its time to tailgate. Early preparations and gathering of supplies have taken place over the last week. Ice is added to coolers, cars and are packed, and people are dressed in their respective schools colors. The hurry up and wait routine starts so you can guarantee the best tailgate spot ever. Arriving in the parking lot, all the cars are cramping into tight spaces and unpacking. Can pop tops break the silent air with a crisp noise that can’t be mistaken anywhere. The first game day beverage hits your lips and the season has officially started. The smell of charcoal, burgers, and bbq fills your nose reminding you of the delicious flavors associated with football. The camaraderie between fans and friends begins to take over with mini football games, corn hole, and friendly banter between rivals. As the countdown to kick off continues spirits build and excitement rallies among everyone. With tickets in hand, you begin to make the walk to the stadium. Fans everywhere begin to cheer, chant, and sing the fight song. The team is on the field, adorned in new uniforms with helmets glistening in the sun. As the energy continues to rise, everyone is counting down 10 -9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 … KICK OFF!!
