Recent things that have made me ponder ...

So I generally go through my day, or motions in fast forward and don't even stop to think about little things. Recently a few things have stuck out to me, and made me think twice, and say "ahem". I have made a mental note of them, and now I think I'll expand those thoughts on paper. I really did write an outline (on pen and paper) so I wouldn't forget any of my random thoughts. Seems as if I am getting old .. the big two-six is quickly approaching.

If your in a hurry for lunch and had a rough morning at the office I suggest you choose wisely where you eat lunch. I recently went to Chick-fil-a for lunch and was reminded of why I never go there when I am grumpy. The overly nice, friendly, and sicking sweet servers always have a smile on their faces, apologize for having to wait in line (Hello, its lunch time, I expected a line), and always say "It was my pleasure to serve you" and "Hope you have a pleasureful day". The only adjective they know at Chick-fil-a is pleasure. Now if your in a happy go lucky mood, by all means go to Chick-fil-a, but if your grumpy and don't want to be bothered by fake smiles, go to McDonalds and hit up the dollar menu. I recall another pleasureful dining experience with the family at Chick-fil-a off of 85 in Burlington, NC where I went on the same rant ... So at least they are consistent, and still aren't open on Sundays. Eat Mor Chickin.

The Dunkin Donuts on the way to work is clutch. By the time you get to work the coffee is perfect temperature to drink, and you have had plenty of red lights to chow down your donut. Every time you get your receipt there is a survey for a free donut. Seeing as things are slow in the office, I decided to cash in the free donut survey. Which was quick, easy, and I gave them high satisfactory in almost every category. Anyway, like a true fat kid at heart, I started poking around the website to find out that National Donut Day is June 4th, and you can get FREE donuts! See Y'all there!

I love to hate trail mix. Its a good semi- healthy snack that I keep in my desk drawer. But it seems like there are always a lot more nuts then there are m&m's. I have even added extra m&m's to the mix, but it still seems as if they disappear leaving raisins and almonds. I could try and blame my office mate, but I know he doesn't have a huge sweet tooth so I guess I know who the culprit is. After a recent email correspondence with a friend from across campus I have decided to take his advice "Don't kid yourself, so go buy a bag of peanut m&m's." Who needs a healthy snack anyway?

Should my friends and family be scared that a recent news article on yahoo titled "America's Scariest Highways" has made me consider a road trip? I clicked through the slide show, and realized I have been on two of the highways, and actually been the driver on one of them. On a spring break trip with T, we drove her uncle's SUV down the Pacific Coast Hwy which made the list of scariest highways. It was a beautiful drive, windy road, and very easy to get sidetracked by the breath taking views. The second highway that I am familiar with is Hwy 1 in Alaska. While I wasn't the driver, but only a passenger, this is when I learned what 'white knuckle' driving is. On a family trip, we borrowed my great uncle's RV and explored Alaska. Two lane mountain highways with out guard rails and the possibility of encountering a moose = white knuckle driving. Traveling on Hwy 1 probably took us to see "another glacier" and my dad told us "you girls are sooo lucky". White knuckle driving is not only reserved for the scariest highways in America, but also when you teach your sixteen year old daughter to drive stick shift.

I hope you have enjoyed the randomness of my thoughts, because this is what it is like in my head :)
